Last week, the NextGen Center community was privileged to spend an hour with a truly inspiring leader: Maureen LeBoeuf, Brigadier General (Ret).

In her presentation, Moments That Matter, General LeBoeuf took the audience through memories from her own life in which she knew something pivotal had happened or a transformative lesson had been learned.

A broken window. A swimming competition. A word of support from a nun. These were experiences that, in the moment, may not have stood out as formative. But later, they took on a larger meaning and revealed themselves as pivotal.

Instead, they were specific interactions, decisions or observations - moments - that later came to resonate with Gen. LeBoeuf as critical to her life’s journey. A journey in which she broke barriers, forged uncharted territory, and exceeded expectations. In fact, the world took notice: you don’t say ‘no’ to Maureen Kenan LeBoeuf.

Gen LeBoeuf encouraged her audience to finely tune their awareness of these moments because of the impact they have on our own trajectories, and how they shape where we go from here.

Some of her standout thoughts were captured by our community members in a collaborative Jamboard:
