Confidence + Humility Community Module

Did you know there are five levels of leadership (Ref: Good to Great, by Jim Collins)?

Level 1: Capability

Level 2: Contributor

Level 3: Competent

Level 4: Catalyst

Level 5: Confidence & Humility

And it was Level 5 that Dr. Sackeena Gordon-Jones presented during our recent Community Module. More than 20 professionals joined us and all the proceeds were donated to Activate Good.

“Ten years ago, we wouldn’t be talking about humility,” she said. That’s because it’s an attribute associated with weakness and hardly one we think to look for in leaders. In fact, it could be said that arrogance was even valued higher.

“But we’ve learned in the last year that humility is a determinant of strength when it’s paired with confidence.”

Dr. Gordon-Jones described the Hogan Assessment, where humility is deemed necessary to be an effective executive leader. And it’s the cornerstone to a culture of growth. Because having humility fosters a belief that there is more to do, and always more room for growth.

All I know is all I’ve learned, but I haven’t learned all there is to know.”

Thanks to Dr. Gordon-Jones for this session. It sparked some fascinating conversation and we look forward to exploring more. Below is our virtual white board where attendees shared their biggest takeaway.
